Japan Grindcore Crust UK Tours

There's not much I can say about Extreme Noise Terror that hasn't been said before, so I'll spare you the long, finger destroying novel about how much they influenced grindcore, crust punk, blah, blah and so on. For those of us lucky enough to be in Japan this month, you will get to see ENT up close and personal in a few weeks. For the rest of you... wish you were here. Instead of talking about all that other stuff, let me tell you a story...

The first time I heard of ENT was when I saw a video of their 1992 performance of 3 AM Eternal at the Brit Awards with the KLF, a group that at first fascinated me with their absolutely bizarre music videos featuring Tammy Wynette rather than their music. Did you know they burned a million pounds? They did.

The part of that performance that I was most impressed with was the machine gun firing into the crowd of pop music fans and music industry types, but I also wondered about those bad ass dudes with the dreads screaming “ANCIENTS OF MU MU!” while Bill Drummond hobbled around on a crutch. If you look closely, you can see Billy Bragg in the crowd clapping which suggested to me he was vouching for them. I’d like to see Extreme Noise Terror do a cover of “Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards.”

That’s the end of my crappy story about Extreme Noise Terror. It’s more or less a story about the KLF with some ENT and Billy Bragg thrown in. Hope you enjoyed it.

Extreme Noise Terror starts off their four day tour of Japan with Reality Crisis on Friday March 17th in Osaka. They will finish up on the 20th at Shinjuku Loft on the last day of the last (!!!) Kappunk.

I'll leave you with some awesome footage of ENT's 1991 Japan tour:
